There’s no more epic street party than Marathon Day in New York City. But how do you get people excited before the big day? You create an experiential, pre-marathon scavenger hunt worthy of the world’s greatest marathon. By downloading the app and collecting all the “Smile Markers” along the route, people won prizes, learned marathon trivia, and most importantly, earned bragging rights of their own.
The TSC NYC Marathon App, typically just a way for runners to get info and their supporters to track them during the run itself, became a portal for a whole new generation of fans to discover the marathon.
